Texas Ranger Day 2018

Honoring our Former Texas Rangers

The day of April 14th began with a memorial bell toll and roll call honoring 34 Texas Rangers buried at the Center Point Cemetery.   There was an encampment of Former Texas Rangers at Center Point Park.  A great BarBQ lunch fundraiser was held 11am-2pm.  Local student oil paintings were displayed for guest to vote on their favorite painting.

Our thanks to our supporters and donors!

This event would not have been possible without the help and support of many:  the Former Texas Ranger Association; from Center Point ISD, the superintendent of schools, Cody Newcomb, and the Art teacher, Karen Blackledge; Walter 'Sid' Jones who did an amazing job hand tooling leather holsters for the raffle; the HEB stores of Boerne and Kerrville; Fritz Mini-Mart; Center Point Volunteer Fire Department; Center Point United Methodist Church; and to Catie and Bennie Harvill for the essentials Port-aPotties.

At the end of the day...

The Memorial service for the Texas Rangers was well attended showing great honor for 34 brave Texas Rangers laid to rest in Center Point.  The Art Show had a lot of votes and the two students whose oil paintings tied for Favorite painting received gift certificates, along with their Art teacher.  The Raffle of a replica 1847 Colt Walker with tooled holster and Bowie knife with tooled sheath and the BarBQ lunch raised almost $6000 for CPAHPA!
